Tirupati: Lokayukta, Hyderabad, on Tuesday directed the Principal Secretary of Department for Women, Child, Disabled and Senior Citizen Welfare, Andhra Pradesh to submit a report on the complaint filed by the president of Andhra Pradesh Balala Hakkula Sangham (APBHS) seeking restoration of the rights of the two children to reunite with their mother, as they lost their father in Yerpedu incident.
Responding to the complaint filed by APBHS honorary president Achyuta Rao to the Institution of Lokayukta on April 29, the Lokayukta directed the principal secretary to submit his report in two days, i.e. on May 4, the date on which the case was posted for hearing. In the complaint, Rao said that the two children, boy Motin (6) and girl Yagana (4), were living with their father Jayachandra, a differently- abled person in Munagapalem in Yerpedu mandal as their mother Renuka was away in Kuwait working as a maid with a sheik.
He contended that Renuka was not allowed to return home by her owner without paying Rs 2.5 lakh and urged Lokayukta to direct Andhra Pradesh government to take steps to enable Renuka reach her children who are eagerly waiting for her arrival.
It may be recalled that Jayachandra, a polio-affected person, went to Yerpedu to join a protest staged by Munagapalem farmers against the sand mafia and died in the road accident leaving the two children with no parental care.
Subhadra, mother of Jayachandra, who was also in Kuwait on work, returned after the death of her son to take care of the children. She informed about Renuka’s owner insisting her pay Rs 2.5 lakh to allow her return home to join with her children to provide the much- needed parental support in the hour of difficulty.Rao filed the complaint in Lokayukta after getting to know the pathetic condition through media.
