Pregnant teen attempts suicide due to harassment
A 19-year-old pregnant girl attempted suicide at Sitanagaram village of Chintalapudi Mandal following disputes between her and her lover on Tuesday.According to Police, Naddi Sirisha of Sitanagaram village had a love affair with Junjunuri Kanthayya for the last three months
Eluru: A 19-year-old pregnant girl attempted suicide at Sitanagaram village of Chintalapudi Mandal following disputes between her and her lover on Tuesday.According to Police, Naddi Sirisha of Sitanagaram village had a love affair with Junjunuri Kanthayya for the last three months. The village elders tried to settle the issue discussing with both family members, but in vain Kanthayya’s family members did not agree to the marriage. Therefore, Sirisha’s family members decided to perform her marriage with other person and paid Rs 40,000 as dowry.
On learning about this, Kanthayya started harassing Sirisha in the name of love and went a step ahead and informed their love affair to the bridegroom and his family members to stop the marriage. The vexed Sirisha consumed pesticide at her residence. The family members immediately shifted her to Chintalapudi Hospital. The doctors after medical examination announced that Sirisha was three months pregnant by the time. Chintalapudi police registered a case against Kanthayya following the complaint by Sirisha’s family members.
