2 kids charred to death
Two children of a migrant family were charred to death when a fire broke out in their hut due to short circuit at Ayyappa Colony here on Wednesday.
Vijayawada: Two children of a migrant family were charred to death when a fire broke out in their hut due to short circuit at Ayyappa Colony here on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Lokesh (6) and Rajesh (2). The incident took place when the parents of the kids were away.
According to Patamata police, the deceased father Bhogesh came to the city, along with family from Kharagpur in West Bengal in October 2016, in search of livelihood, Bhogesh was working as a watchman at an open site in Ayyappa Colony, while his wife Padma was working as a domestic help.
The roof of the hut collapsed on the kids killing them instantly. Bhogesh and Padma were not present when the fire broke out.
On receiving information, the fire department personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Later, police , too, went to the spot and sent the bodies to the New Government Hospital for post-mortem.
K Simhachalam, one of the daily wage workers at the fire accident site, said that Bhogesh went to pick up his wife from working place after feeding their children.
He said that he tried to save the children, but flames spread the entire hut within a few minutes. District Collector B Lakshmi Kantham released immediate relief of Rs 8,000 to the bereaved family.
