Amaravati: The leadership of Telugu Desam has plans to nominate a new president for AP wing from SC community. There is a tradition to elect a new president at every party plenary in Telugu Desam.
The party has already announced plenary schedule to be held at Vizag from May 27. Present AP wing president Kala Venkata Rao has been elevated recently as minister for energy in the recent Cabinet reshuffle.
The TD leadership wants to elect a new leader to the post. Actually, party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be interested to replace Kala Venkata Rao with N Chinarajappa as he belongs to the same Kapu community.
In that case, it is said he will be removed from the Cabinet and replaced by Jyothula Nehru, of the same Kapu community. But the priorities may be changed from Kapus to SCs as the party now believes this community will play an important role in the next election.
It is now a much-talked about topic among TD top leadership as to which community is best suited for handing over state party president post in view of general elections which are two years away from now, Kapus, BCs or SCs.
