Red sander logs worth Rupees 2 crores seized

This vehicle had sped away two days back from Renigunta area. RSASTF head constable Jilani based on credible information revealing that smugglers loaded red sanders in a container truck near the forest, near Renigunta and which was likely to go to Chennai with the stock.
They kept a watch on the highway at Gajulamandayam on May 4. After spotting a container vehicle coming speedily, he signaled it to stop but the vehicle sped away.Jilani chased the vehicle for some distance up to the state border but in vain. He immediately reported the matter to higher officials leading the authorities alerting Tamil Nadu police. A case was also registered in Task Force police station here.
Sholingar police found the vehicle that escaped from here while inspecting vehicles and detained it along with the driver cum owner Nagaraj on May 5 and informed RSASTF authorities. A team of officials from here went to Sholingar and brought the vehicle along with the stock and also the accused.RSASTF SP Ravisankar speaking to media denied any laxity on the part of RSASTF and said it was because of their well-knit plan the vehicle carrying huge stock of red sanders was caught.
