Shiv Sena for reconstruction of ruined temple at Thondavada
Shiv Sena Party demanded the government to take up the reconstruction of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple locally known as Thimmappa Aalayam in Thondavada village near Tirupati. Speaking to the media, Shiv Sena district convener T Omkar said that temple which was constructed in 1542 was flourishing with devotees visiting it but later for one reason or other it got ruined. The lands also changed hands and a Muslim institution running an educational institution for women purchased the lands near the temple and constructed a multi-storey building, he explained.
Omkar wanted the government at least restore the lands around the temple and take up the reconstruction of the historic temple the details of which were also find a place in the books brought out by Sadhu Subramanya Sastry based on the inscriptions found in Tirumala and other TTD temples in and around Tirupati. He said Shiv Sena will launch a campaign to press the government take up rebuilding of the ruined temple.
