Allagadda (Kurnool dist): Two persons identified as Induri Prabhakar Reddy (45) and his brother-in-law Srinivasulu Reddy were hacked to death in the Sirivalli mandal headquarters of Kurnool district on Saturday.

The victims were said to be the followers of Gangula Prabhakar Reddy, who defected to the YSRCP from the TDP. According to reports, a band of unidentified assailants chased and killed them with sickles while on an evening stroll. The bodies were dumped into the farm fields.

Prabhakar Reddy, a resident of Govindapalli, served as president of Sivivelli Mandal Parishad. Gangula group is facing rivalry from the Irigela Rampulla Reddy and Bhuma Nagi Reddy groups. However, the police are clueless over the cause for the murders and the people involved in the offence.

SP Ake Ravikrishna visited the scene of offence and a police picket was posted in the village. The twin murders shattered the deceptive lull prevailing in the faction-ridden Kurnool district for the last one year.

The four-member family of Guddi Krishna Reddy was annihilated while remaining inside their house at Chintagunta by the rival group a year ago. Since then uneasy calm gripped the district.
