Kurnool: YSR Congress Party, Kurnool In-charge, Hafeez Khan said that ‘Housing for All’ introduced by the Telugu Desam Party is a big scam. The house for all schemes is nothing but to fill the pockets of party leaders rather than providing shelter to the poor. He along with other party leaders visited Municipal High School ground where registrations for House for All are being carried out on Saturday.

Later speaking on the occasion, Hafeez Khan said that the cost of construction per sq ft feet is around Rs.800 to Rs.1000 and for construction of 300 sq ft apartment costs less than Rs.3 lakh and the amounts are also covered under subsidy. But the government is collecting Rs.2.71 lakh extra from the poor for category- 1 houses thereby dragging them into neck deep problems. The same conditions are prevailing in case of other two categories as well, he stated.

The Telugu Desam Party instead of doing good to the poor is benefitting the contractors. Several beneficiaries from Rudravaram, Tadakana Palle and Jagannatha Gattu villages are still waiting to see their patta lands that were allocated to them in 2011. Instead of identifying their lands now the government is hatching plans to grab them on the name of apartment allocation, he alleged.

Hafeez Khan recalling YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule said every poor person was provided with a house free of cost. He also demanded that every poor person should be given flats without charging and the whole amount has to be borne by the government.

He said that the TDP is doing real estate business by taking away the poor people’s valuable land and also collecting extra charges forcibly on the name of apartment construction. The subsidy amount being given to the poor is no way benefitting the poor and it in turn benefitting the contractors, he alleged.
