DGP N Sambasiva Rao cautions police personnel on operation front as ultras are increasing their presence through violent incidents

He told the officials to be on high alert as the Maoists were increasing their presence through violent incidents. He said the Lothugedda mine blast was targeted at the senior officials of the police department but unfortunately home guard Valli was killed.

Similarly, the ultras destroyed four heavy earth moving machines of a contractor, who was laying roads in the AOB zone.“Keeping these incidents in mind, the officials and police personnel on the operation front should be on high alert,” the DGP said.

Keeping in mind the intensity of the problem, the state government has appointed retired officer Kode Durga Prasad as advisor to the home department. Durga Prasad headed several para military organisations at the Centre and was well experienced in Maoist problems.Visakhapatnam rural SP Rahul Dev Sharma, commissioner of police T Yoganand, Srikakulam SP Brahma Reddy, Vizianagaram SP Ranga Rao and heads of Greyhounds and special police attended the review meeting.
