Cricket betting racket busted
For the second time, the City Task Force personnel busted a betting racket at MVP Colony on Saturday. The arrested were identified as V Venkata Siva Hemanth (30) and N Bujji Raju (30), both hailing from the city. The police also seized one multi-level communicator equipment box with 21 betting line mobile phones, one laptop, one LED TV and other allied equipment and Rs 1.74 lakh cash.
Visakhapatnam: For the second time, the City Task Force personnel busted a betting racket at MVP Colony on Saturday.
The arrested were identified as V Venkata Siva Hemanth (30) and N Bujji Raju (30), both hailing from the city. The police also seized one multi-level communicator equipment box with 21 betting line mobile phones, one laptop, one LED TV and other allied equipment and Rs 1.74 lakh cash.
The police said that duo has been organising the betting operations for past few days in the city and was into online betting. At the time of the raid on a flat at MVP Colony in the city on Saturday, 18 punters were online for the T20 match between Rising Pune Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad. To evade the police, the duo used multi-level communicator equipment box, which is difficult to track as the punters communicate the bets moving around the city in cars.
During the investigation, the police found the betting organisers were also selective about the punters and they do not entertain the new punters. The organisers also verify the background of the punters, ACP I Chittibabu said.It may be recalled that a few days ago the CTF police arrested four member of a gang from Bhimavaram who were operating from a gated-community at PM Palem in the city.
