Two new bridges on Bandar, Ryvas canals

Vijayawada: As per directive of the government, irrigation department is planning to build two new bridges, one in the city and another at Penamaluru mandal to ease traffic problems.Krishnad Delta chief engineer Shasidhar Reddy confirmed that the irrigation department is preparing designs to the proposed bridge at Ramavarappadu in the city and another at L V Prasad Eye Hospital at Tadigadapa in Penamaluru mandal (near Vijayawada city).

The bridge at Ramavarappadu is being planned on Ryvas Canal (at 7.385 km). It will connect NH-5 and Nunna Road. Engineer-in-Chief of water resource department M Venakteswara Rao suggested the officials that the bridge has to be built crossing Ryvas Canal and railway line near Ramavarappadu Railway Station also. Shasidhar Reddy said the bridge is being designed as three parts, one at Ryvas Canal, another at vacant irrigation sites besides canal and the third on railway line. The three parts will be connected in the end.

The proposed bridge will create short cut to Nunna of Vijayawada rural mandal and Ajitsingnagar area in the city from Ramavarappadu. It is also useful to the passengers of Ramavarappadu Railway Station to reach Ramavarappadu and NH-5.
Gannavaram MLA V Vamsimohan has been demanding for the bridge and raised the issue during the recent meeting with Minister Nara Lokesh.

Another Bridge is also planned on Bandar canal at L V Prasad eye hospital in Tadigadapa. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given assurance to people of the area to construct a new bridge on Bandar canal. The proposed bride connect Machilipatnam-Hydarabad highway to L V Prasad Hospital crossing Bandar canal. “Designs for the two bridges are in progress and may be completed within 15-20 days” said Shasidhar Reddy.
