Amaravati: The tweet of Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan kicked off a fresh row over appointment of Anilkumar Singhal as Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Pawan in his tweet endorsed the views of Swamy Swaroopananda, pontiff of Saradapeetham in Visakhapatnam.

The pontiff at a media conference expressed his strong opposition over appointment of an officer from north on the ground that the people from northern states are not well-versed with the Agama Sastra which is vigorously in practice in the temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala.

The Pawan’s tweet drew wild reactions from his ruling ally of the TDP. TDP MLC YB Rajendraprasad in a strong rebuttal asked Pawan to know the nitty-gritty of the functions of the Indian Administrative Service before talking about the appointments of officers in the service.

The very service denotes “all-India”, meaning the officers in the service can work anywhere in the country and that the issue of north and south will not at all arise in their postings.
