Proposal by police department to seek traders’ cooperation in installation of CC cameras across the town is unanimously welcomed by all trade unions

Amalapuram: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) L Ankaiah here on Monday said that closed circuit cameras (CC cameras) would help in bringing down the crime rate. He was addressing the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and trade unions at the chamber of the Municipal Chairman Chikkala Ganesh.

The DSP, the Municipal Chairman and Municipal Commissioner CH Srinivasulu urged the traders to render their cooperation by donating for installation of CC cameras across the town. They asked the traders to list out some of their unions that could share the responsibility. “The responsibility of installing cameras from Clock Tower centre to the High School centre should be taken up by Electronic Association. RS Brothers should take the responsibility for the installation of CCTVs from Clock Tower centre to Bus Shelter. While Timber Merchants Association and petrol bunk owners should arrange CCTVs from Bus shelter to Edarapalli,” they added.

Builders Association, Medical Association, Cloth Merchants Association, Aqua Culture Association, Banks and theatres had also been allocated with the places where they have to see to it that the streets are under surveillance. Managements of private schools and colleges would also take part in installing CC cameras.

Later, the Municipal Chairman took the details of the number of CC cameras that would be donated by each trade union. The DSP explained that a consultancy would be approached for the installation of cameras. The surveillance will be done under the supervision of the police department. The proposal was unanimously welcomed by all the trade unions. Circle Inspector YRK Srinivas said that CC cameras footage helped them to find those involved in a series of damages done to cars recently.
