Trial begins in tonsure case
The tonsure case of Venkatayapalem in East Godavari began afresh in SC, ST Special Court (Prevention of Atrocities) in the city court complex on Monday. The main accused in the case and Ramachandrapuram MLA Thota Trimurtulu and other accused were present in the court.Koti Chinnaraju and Dadala Venkataratnam, who were allegedly tonsured by the MLA and his followers were also present in the court.

Y Sujatha, special appointed prosecutor examined Chinnaraju during the day and Venkataratnam will depose on Tuesday. Defence lawyer KV Rama Murthy cross examined Chinnaraju.KV Nageswara Rao is the judge of the court. This schedule will continue till May 12 and thereafter arguments will resume. Representatives of SC and ST Association from Andhra University and other institutions were present to express solidarity with the victims.
