Amaravati: The Transport Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana met here today to sort out various pending issues between the two states since the bifurcation three years ago.

This was the first meeting between ministers K Atchannaidu (AP) and P Mahender Reddy (Telangana) after the 2014 division of Andhra Pradesh.

Essentially, the talks centred around the bifurcation of the State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) though for all practical purposes the two states have formed their own public transport bodies.

"We will meet again towards the end of this month or early next month to finalise all issues. In the meantime, our officials will meet and chalk out a roadmap for this," the ministers told reporters after the meeting.

"We discussed five main issues, including the division of RTC and inter-state transportation. We will soon sign an agreement on this," they said.

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Managing Director M Malakondaiah, his Telangana counterpart Ramana Rao and Principal Secretaries Sunil Sharma (Telangana), Sumita Dawra (AP), among others, attended the meet.
