Earlier, the leaders visited Steel Plant, Port Stadium and Old Dairy Farm but zeroed in on AU Engineering College grounds due to spacious parking place and good road connectivity.Party sources said it was Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who himself finalised the venue for sentimental reasons.“It was here Naidu concluded his ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra in 2013 and it proved to be lucky.

The next year, he won the elections with a huge majority,’’ said a senior leader of the party.The Chief Minister asked the ministers to make it a big event as Mahanadu will be drawing national attention. After Bhoomi Puja, the ministers of north Andhra will become busy making all the arrangements.Meanwhile, the leaders are taking cautious steps to deal with a section of students who has been opposing conduct of Mahanadu at AU Engineering College Grounds.

State general secretary of YSR Students Union B Kanta Rao, Vidyarthi JAC chairman Areti Mahesh, state president of Unemployed Students Struggle Committee M Srinivas, district secretary of AISF S Lovaraju and Adivasi Vidyarthi Sangham district president M Madhu submitted a memorandum to AU vice-chancellor Prof N Nageswara Rao urging him not to allow the ruling party meet in the varsity.The leaders told the vice-chancellor that permission was never accorded for holding a political meeting in the past.
