Stringent action if discrepancies found in weights: Pulla Rao
The Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Prathipati Pulla Rao warned the officials, dealers of civil supplies and gas agencies of stringent action if any discrepancy was found in weights.

The minister conducted surprise checks to the gas and fertilizers godowns in Ongole on Wednesday before conducting a meeting with the stake holders of his department in collectorate on the implementation of Deepam scheme in the district.
The minister said that he observed about 700 grams was missing in the each fertilizer bag in the godown. He said that he was receiving information that the there were a lot of discrepancies in weights of the goods transported from stock points to fair price shops.
To control theft of goods by small weights, he said that the government was planning to order surprise checks by legal metrology department.
He said that he will not tolerate any discrepancies in weights of the consumer goods in the state and asked the public to complain to the authorities if they found any faults in weights.
