Chittoor: District Collector PS Pradyumna instructed the Municipal Commissioners to keep their respective cities and towns clean for achieving Swachh Survekshan ranks. He asked civic chiefs to give priority for resolving drinking water scarcity by supplying water to colonies through hired tankers. The Collector convened a review meeting with commissioners of Chittoor, Madanapalle, Palamaner, Punganur, Srikalahasti, Puttur, Nagari and Tirupati municipalities here on Thursday.

Pradyumna informed officials to undertake the beautification works to get ranks under Swachh Survekshan. He instructed officials not to be negligent in discharging duties. The state government is committed to development of cities and towns by allocating required funds, he added.

The Collector asked Municipal Commissioners to submit a detailed report for laying roads and construction of drainages in their respective municipalities. He stressed on the need for developing parks and the tanks in the cities and towns. He further instructed them to launch a special drive for collecting the property and water tax dues. He assured of releasing funds to the municipalities for preventing acute water shortage.

Municipal Commissioners G Balasubramanyam (Chittoor), M Viswanath (Madanapalle), K Ramachandra Rao (Palamaner), S Srihari Babu (Puttur), G Chandraiah (Srikalahasti) and Ch Venkateswarlu (Nagari) were present.
