Duggirala turmeric yard receives a record quantity of 30,000 bags
A.P biggest Duggirala Turmeric Yard is filled with turmeric stocks following increased arrivals during the last three days. As the turmeric price has fallen from Rs 5000 to Rs 4500 per quintal, the farmers are bringing their stocks to the Yard for better price.

As the turmeric price has fallen from Rs 5000 to Rs 4500 per quintal, the farmers are bringing their stocks to the Yard for better price. Markfed is purchasing superfine quality of turmeric at Rs.6500 per quintal and ordinary variety at Rs. 6000. As a result stocks have piled up in the Yard for the last few days. At present there are 30,000 bags of turmeric stocks in the Duggirala Yard.

This is a record in the history of Duggirala. At present count, the farmers have dumped 50000 bags from various districts in the state. As a result, the hamalis working in the yard are unable to handle the loading and unloading duties and there is no place in the yard even to park lorries. The yard is planning to engage more hamalis to speed up turmeric purchase process for the convenience of the farmers.
Duggirala Turmeric Yard chairman V. Sambi Reddy said “We have decided to expedite purchases. Markfed is purchasing 3000 to 3500 bags per day and making payments within a week to the farmers. We will engage more hamalis to clear the stocks in the yard. " he informed.
