Visakhapatnam: Students, scholars and teachers were perturbed over finding empty liquor bottles every day morning on the road leading to Dr Durgabai Deshmukh, Centre for Women’s Studies building at Andhra University. The issue was taken to the notice of the higher authorities, but the bottles continue to appear.

Ganga Ram, a security guard, manning the building told to this correspondent that he had questioned students and outsiders, but they shouted at him for questioning them. “While some of them also claim that they represent political parties,’’ Ganga Ram said.

Parvati, a sweeper at Andhra University, said it has become a regular collection point for some rag pickers in the nearby campus. They walk into the campus and collect the empty bottles. Sometimes students also face problem to pass on the roads when the bottles are broken into pieces.

Manga Raju, a pump attendant at Andhra University women's hostel, said:“We can find the brands of alcohol which women drink and also beer bottles were found around the senior students’ blocks.
