Maredumilli (East Godavari): Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer A Dinesh Kumar conducted a public hearing with regard to setting up of the headquarter of newly sanctioned Y Ramavaram upper mandal at Youth Training Centre in Maredumilli here on Thursday. He collected opinions of sarpaches, MPPs and ZPTCs on if the mandal headquarter should be set up at Gurhtedu or at Donkarayi. He took the opinions from both the parties who were advocating for setting up mandal headquarters at Gurthedu and Donkarayi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Kumar said that the government had sanctioned new mandal of Upper Y Ramavaram and that the meeting had been conducted to know different opinions of tribals on setting up mandal headquarter. He stressed the need to consider all the factors in setting up headquarters and added that five parameters including road connectivity, information system, basic amenities, population as well as law and order are being considered.

He mentioned that there are 86 habitats from six panchayaths in Y Ramavaram mandal and steps will be taken to restore road works from Gurthedu to Donkarayi. He called upon tribal people representatives to propose headquarter which would be close to the tribal habitats.

He observed that Gurthedu had less communication system in comparison with Donkarayi and added that the region would soon have 32 cell towers. Stating that the road connectivity is low in both the centres, he said that the arrival of tribals to weekly shandies will be considered.

As far as the law and order is concerned, he informed that the last five years record will be obtained from the police.
He informed that the new mandal will be established with Kanivada, Gurthedu, Chintalapudi, Pathakota, Donkarayi and daragadda panchayaths and enquired the officials on the availability of government sites and buildings. He made it clear that the proposals to establish mandal headquarter will sent to the government after consulting people’s representatives and considering the reports.
