The District Rajaka Welfare Committee , East Godavari district passed a resolution requesting the government to make a  separate  enactment to protect the  Rajakas from attacks  in their profession .

Kakinada: The District Rajaka Welfare Committee , East Godavari district passed a resolution requesting the government to make a separate enactment to protect the Rajakas from attacks in their profession .

The committee meeting was held at Vidhan Gowthami hall at Collectorate ,Kakinada under the chairmanship of District Collector Kartikeya Misra on Friday.

The committee also passed a resolution requesting the government to provide pension to washermen of 50 years and above, on par with weavers in the state .

In this connection Rajahmundry Narayana ,Chairman State Washermen Federation who attended this meeting requested the collector to implement welfare measures like construction of dhobi ghats ,allotment of tanks in the villages ,filling of posts with Rajakas in the endowments department and in hospitals and to allot shops to Rajakas as per the 21 Government GOs issued from time to time for their welfare in the state .

In this connection, Collector directed the DPO to identify the tanks meant for allocating it to Rajakas in the district and instructed the ED BC Corporation to identify the posts in Endowments Department and Hospitals meant for dhobis and to follow the methodology for shops allotment to Rajakas as per the provision. ED BC Corporation M Jyothi, members of the committee and other district officers attended.
