East Godavari Collector treks 11 km to visit remote tribal village
Steps will be taken to provide education, medical and basic facilities in remotest areas in the agency area, East Godavari district collector Karthikeya Misra said here on Saturday. He travelled 11 kilometers by walk in difficult terrain to remotest village of Ijjaluru in Maredumilli mandal on Saturday and inquired about the living condition 12 families living there.

Maredumilli (East Godavari): Steps will be taken to provide education, medical and basic facilities in remotest areas in the agency area, East Godavari district collector Karthikeya Misra said here on Saturday. He travelled 11 kilometers by walk in difficult terrain to remotest village of Ijjaluru in Maredumilli mandal on Saturday and inquired about the living condition 12 families living there.
He inquired about the education, health and the distribution of ration in the village. He appealed to the 12 families to make their home near main road and the government will construct houses and give them special package. But, the tribals living in the village refused to come out of the village by saying that they are having two to three acres of land and living by making broom sticks and by going to employment guarantee schemes works. They have asked the collector to give them pattas for hill slope cultivation and construct school-cum-anganwadi centre and lay a road.
The collector has told them that resident of the village, Nageswara Reddy will be appointed as Resource Contract Teacher and appoint local class five student Sadala Kumari as anganwadi worker. He presented four litre water filters to all the families and said that the steps will be taken to extend ayacut area through solar system by conducting study on the possibility of lift irrigation scheme.
He assured that the steps will be taken to lay road by overcoming forest department’s objections. He maintained that loan to the tune of Rs 15,000 will be sanctioned for each woman by restoring DWACRA group in the village and called upon the villagers to enhance their living standards by making use of the amount. He added that an Asha worker will also appointed in the village.
After inquiring about which crop is being cultivated in the village, he assured that pattas will be given to hill slope lands which are according to guidelines. When the collector and the Project Officer, ITDA, A Dinesh Kumar asked the villagers about medical facilities, the ANMs said that there are three pregnant women in the village and it is very tough to move them to the nearest PHC that is Maredumilli, which is about 11 kms.
Immediately, the collector asked to bring any pregnant woman before two weeks of the delivery to PHC and give Rs.200 per day to the family along with free meal. The collector along with other officials walked 11 kilometres from the village to reach main road. Rampa Chodavaram ASP Adnan Naeem Azmi, DFO Nandini and sub-DFO Samuel were among who were present there.
