Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa stated that police will not tolerate rowdyism or any type of crime in the state. Addressing a media conference after reviewing Rajamahendravaram Urban police district crime here on Saturday, he said that the Chandrababu government has taken serious steps in controlling crimes like smuggling of red sanders, land grabbing and ganja smuggling. He also said that the CM is very particular about white-collar offences and he wants to handle them with an iron hand.

Rajappa said that though the crime rate in Rajamahendravaram crime district is under control, the number of cases has slightly increased in serious offences category like murders, rape and kidnaps. He added that in 2014 the number of cases in 2014 was 479, in 2015 they went up to 490 and in 2016 the number of serious offences recorded was 519 and till April it was 167.

He said that the number of people who died in the road accidents was 157 in Urban district in 2015 and 2016 and till now the number is 17. The Home Minister said that under Rajamahendravaram Urban police district the number of rowdy sheeters is 181 and suspicious persons are 429.

The Home Minister asked all the officials from Sub-Inspector rank to act tough with rowdy gangs, anti-social elements and strongly advised them not to succumb to political pressures. Urban SP B. Rajakumari and all police officials in the district were present in this meeting.
