Vijayawada: Women and girls missing cases have been on the rise in the city since January 2016 due to extra-marital relations, love affairs, financial issues and lack of good communication system among family members, including passion towards film industry. As many as 1,108 men, boys, women and girls’ missing cases were registered by the city people at different police stations. Among them, women and girl missing cases account for 636.

Social media is playing a vital role in the missing cases because most of the young stars addicted to chat on FaceBook with unknown persons and they continue their friendship with unidentified persons. Later, it is leading to economical transactions.
South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police K Srinivasa Rao speaking to The Hans India said that parents should spend a few hours with their wards and guide them regarding their education and future plans.

He said that parents should understand their children’s passion towards career and encourage them. Similarly, the family members should not force their opinions on their children without knowing their areas of interest. If they do so, they would run away unable to fulfil the aspirations of their parents.

District Women and Child Welfare Department assistant project director K Krishna Kumari said that most of the girls and women were leaving their homes due to love affairs, while a few of them leaving as their marriages were fixed sans their consent.

She said that college and hostel managements should inform the girls family members if any girl student was not attending to the classes frequently in the college. “Women and girl students should aware of fake news regarding job opportunities and movie chances because vulgar groups are always trying to trap women by luring them with chance in movies and employment,” she added.

She said that mother should spend free time with their daughter and because the girl needed more support from family members to achieve goals. “District Women and Child Welfare Department officials were conducting awareness meetings in rural and urban areas for preventing missing of women and girls,” she said.

A private employee (29) left home, along with her son, following altercation with husband. She is keeping her whereabouts a secret and calling her mother only.A girl, who failed Intermediate twice, has been missing after attending the exam for third time as her parents mounted pressure on her, she is still missing.

All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) state secretary D Rama Devi said that police officials should resolve the missing cases as early as possible. “The people, who came from rural areas, should be aware of groups in the city because they would try to trap women and girls luring with financial support,” she added.
