Visakhapatnam: Well known film director of Baahubali fame S S Rajamouli opened state’s first badminton academy set up by his childhood friend and National Institute of Sports trained coach M V Murali Krishna at Vadlapudi here on Friday.It has been a long pending dream of badminton fraternity to have an academy in the city. Named as “Laqshya Badminton Academy,” the institution is located at Green City near Vadlapudi. The academy has six badminton courts hall, swimming pool, air-conditioned gym, specialize fitness zone and a CBSE School.

Going down the memory lane, the chief coach of the academy Murali Krishna said that he had faced numerous difficulties to set up the academy to provide quality training to the young badminton players. He said he had left his job in Visakhapatnam Port Trust and sought support from friends, officials and relatives for the academy.

“My aim does not end with badminton academy, I have a dream to produce champions from Vizag city,” Murali Krishna said.
He said there should be good coordination between the coach and players, parents and administrators to produce outstanding talents. Hopefully, the academy will ease the pressure in Vizag as lot more players have started to play the badminton, Murali Krishna said.

Some of the budding players of the academy felt happy to get badminton academy. Their parents said they were confident that the coaches will polish and improve children’s skills to make them perfect in the game.
