Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmi Kantham on Friday directed the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) officers to start the Metro Rail Project works immediately. Lakshmi Kantham said that in view of city traffic, Metro Rail Project works will be started as early as possible.

The Collector convened a review meeting with the Metro Rail Project, Durga Flyover, and Machilipatnam – Vijayawada National Highway extension works at the Collector’s conference hall in the city.Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmi Kantham directed the AMRC officers to get ready for advance planning for the construction of Metro Rail Project. The AMRC had completed tender process and works should start immediately for early completion of the project to ease the city traffic, he said.

He suggested strengthening the road extension works and provision of lighting at already identified roads for diverting the traffic coming from Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Machilipatnam. He directed the departments concerned to arrange central lighting for Nidamanuru – Ayush Hospital via New Autonagar, Ballemavari Street, Polranki – Mahanadu Raod, New Autonagar – Panta Kalva road, Poranki – NTR Circle via Autonagar 100 feet road, Kesarapalli – Kankipadu Road.

Vijayawada to Srikakulam via Mopidevi Karakatta Road should be strengthened and provided lighting facility, he ordered. The Collector expressed his displeasure over delay in ongoing Kanaka Durga temple flyover works. He directed the contractor concerned to increase workers for expedite the construction works. He further stated that flyover should complete before August.Krishna District Joint Collector G Chandrudu, Traffic DCP Tata Kranti Rana, DRO Ch Rangaiah, NHAI project director T Suresh Kumar, MADA Vice-Chairman Venugopal Reddy and others participated.
