  • Estate officer of Peda Waltair Rythu Bazar Satyakala is suspended for 10 days for gross negligence in not maintaining timings properly

The officials, along with the Rythu Bazar estate officers detected irregularities, including sale of vegetables in bulk well before specified timings, doing business by encroaching upon the vacant portion in front of the allotted stalls, behaving rudely with consumers.

Deputy director Sudhakar, assistant director Kaleswara Rao and special officer of Rythu Bazars S T Naidu seized the vegetables sold in bulk to outsiders and suspended such farmers for 10 days.

The team also warned of action if the farmers encroach upon the vacant portion in front of the allotted stalls and suggested the DWCRA women groups and the farmers to sell the vegetables in bulk only after 11 am failing which the identity cards will be cancelled. It warned to do business only in the allotted stalls and also cautioned the Rythu Bazar staff to maintain timings properly.

Joint Collector Srujana is learnt to have issued orders asking the agriculture marketing officials to suspend the estate officer of Peda Waltair Rythu Bazar Satyakala for 10 days for gross negligence in not maintaining timings properly. The farmers in some Rythu Bazars were specifically warned that they will not be allowed inside if they bring only mangoes.

The two day checks have brought a change in the mindset of the farmers as they are all eking out livelihood depending upon Rythu Bazars.

The bulk vegetable purchasers like hoteliers and petty vegetable vendors were not coming to Rythu Bazars in the morning timings following the checks, but allegations are there that the bulk purchasers give orders over mobile phones to keep the stock of vegetables to be collected after 11 am.

Many consumers want the officials to hold frequent checks to help contain irregularities failing which the very objective of Rythu Bazars will not be fulfilled.
