Abandoned by father, girl loses fight against cancer

Vijayawada: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old girl Sai Sri died of cancer on Sunday after waging a war with her father to get his help for the treatment.Sai Sri's father Madamsetti Siva Kumar, a rowdy sheeter, had abandoned his wife Suma Sri and daughter eight years ago. Since then, both the mother and daughter had been living in a house in Durgapuram. Before, getting separated, the couple had purchased a flat on the name of their daughter Sai Sri in Durgapuram. Mother and daughter were living in that flat.

Unfortunately, girl Sai Sri was afflicted with blood cancer and the health was deteriorated for the past few months. Both, the mother and daughter begged Sivakumar to sell the house and give the money for treatment. Mother Suma Sri said she had already spent Rs 40 lakh and has no money to spend and save the child.
The girl suffering from cancer had sent a selfie to the father requesting him to admit her to a hospital for undergoing treatment. There was no response from the father. The girl repeatedly begged for the mercy of the father and sought financial support to cure the deadly disease, but in vain.
She asked her father to give permission to sell the flat so that money can be used for the treatment. The girl breathed her last on Sunday. The girl in the selife said that she wanted to go school and play with the friends. She further requested her father to talk to her on video call so that she can display her pathetic condition to him.
But, father Siva Kumar refused to sell the home and instead send some people to occupy the house last month. Unknown persons came to the house forcibly and encroached a room in the double bed room flat.Mother Suma Sri alleged that her husband Siva Kumar had ignored many requests she had made to save the child from the jaws of death. She further alleged that her husband was the staunch supporter of Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and some rowdies had threatened her to vacate the house.
The health of the girl was further deteriorated in recent days and she passed away on Sunday. Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao has made it clear on Sunday that he has no connection with the incident and expressed his dismay over the death of the child.
