Tirumala: Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara witnessed a heavy turnout of pilgrims due to consecutive holidays for two days on second Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday alone, more than 96,000 pilgrims had darshan and 60,000 tonsured their heads.While the pilgrim situation at 6 pm on Sunday was as many as 67,500 had darshan while 35000-40000 pilgrims were waiting in the queue line which spilled outside the massive queue complex after it was full.

To cope with the heavy influx of rush, TTD pressed into service a big contingent of about 2,800 Srivari Sevak volunteers to provide food items, water, buttermilk and refreshments to the waiting pilgrims in the stretched queue line. At one stage, the queue line outside the queue complex extended nearly up to 1.5 km with the pilgrim flow in full swing till Sunday afternoon
