​Vijayawada: The APICET 2017 examination results were announced by Human Recourses Development minister Ganta Srinivas Rao at the State Guest House here on Monday.

The examination was conducted by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati through APSCHE, on May 2. S V University Vice-Chancellor Prof A Damodaram acted as the chairman and Prof B Sudhir was the convener of APICET 2017 exam.

The minister announced that 70,678 candidates registered for the examination, 62,962 candidates appeared for the exam and 54,503 qualified in the examination registering a pass percentage of 86.56.

He said that about 38,835 boys qualified with a pass percentage of 61.68, and 24,056 girls qualified in the examination with 38.20 pass percentage, besides 71 transgender candidates qualified with 0.11 pass percentage.

The minister announced the names of the toppers, Manoj Meka from Visakhapatnam secured the first rank with 189.93 marks, NNV Lakshmi Prasanna from West Godavari was second with 155.13 marks and Immidichetty Sowjanya from Srikakulam got the third rank with 153.91 marks.

The HRD minister also announced APECET 2017 examination results at the State Guest House here. The minister announced the results in the presence of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Anantapur officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that JNTU Anantapur had conducted the examination on May 3. About 34,934 candidates registered for the examination and 32,900 candidates appeared for the exam.

In all 30,877 candidates qualified in the exam. The pass percentage recorded is 93.85. Ganta said that 26,933 boys appeared for the exam and 25,146 qualified with a pass percentage of 93.37, and 5,967 girls appeared for the examination and 5,731 qualified with a pass percentage of 96.04.

In Krishna district, 4,486 candidates appeared for the exam and 4,245 qualified with a pass percentage of 94.63, thus standing third among the districts in the state.

The exam was conducted for 13 streams out of which 11 are engineering streams and two are B.Sc (Mathematics) and Pharmacy.
