Counselling begins at GITAM

Visakhapatnam: GITAM University engineering and pharmacy admission counselling for the academic year 2017 started here on Monday. The varsity is admitting students based on GITAM University all India admission test (GAT-2017). The admission wing made elaborate arrangements to conduct the online counselling at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Hyderabad, GITAM Hyderabad campus, Bengaluru and GITAM Bengaluru campus.
The university has issued 30,000 call letters to GAT-2017 rankers for the first phase admission counselling. Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao handed over the admission letter to top rankers at Visakhapatnam campus on Monday. Addressing students and parents, V-C said that the varsity was introducing various new skills in technical education. “We are closely observing the IT sector to know the industry’s future requirements.
New programmes like cyber security, big data, business analytics were already included in the syllabus,” he added and advised students to concentrate on their chosen branch.Registrar Prof M Potharaju, admissions director Prof K Narendra, institute of technology principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad, vice-principal Prof C Dharmaraju and others participated in the programme.
