Krishna Collector warns Preventive of Detention Act  on illegal sand transporters

Vijayawada: Collector B Lakshmi Kantham warned that Preventive of Detention Act (PD) would be imposed on illegal sand transporters. He stated that action would be taken on those, who collect high fare and create artificial sand scarcity in the district. He directed the revenue, police and mining departments to be vigilant round the clock to prevent illegal sand mining and transport.

Collector Lakshmi Kantham held a meeting to review the status of clearance of petitions received from people as part of Mee Kosam in his office in Machilipatnam on Monday.He stated that a control room would be opened for receiving complaints regarding sand, drinking water, NREGS works, pensions, civil supplies and other essential goods. “People can complaint to control room by calling 0866 2474700, 701, 702, 703, 704 on related problems,” he informed.

“For controlling illegal sand transportation and restricting high prices, joint action teams will monitor the round the clock. District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), village-level committees will monitor the sand price,” he explained.He also said that about 8, 000 petitions received from public on revenue and related isuses, were solved and another 9,341 remain pending, which would be solved within four days.

He said that special drive would be conducted for clearance of petitions received though Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme soon. He directed the revenue and civil supplies departments to take steps to clear pending petitions with in 20-days.
