Scheduled Castes protest against social boycott
Scheduled Castes persons residing in Bellakallu village on Monday staged a dharna in front of the office of the RDO here demanding action against Boya community members for ostracising them.On a complaint, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Obulesu rushed to the village on April 25 and brought the two groups to the negotiating table and asked them not to show caste discrimination.

In spite of the RDO’s orders, an announcement was made from a temple rooftop not to let SCs and STs into hotels and not to provide them with essential commodities. The protesters threatened to file SC/ST Atrocity cases against the perpetrators. MRPS district general secretary Nagappa, vice-president Bandari Hanumanthu, leaders Thimmappa, Giddayyaiah, Balanna, Eashweraiah, Balaswamy and others took part in the protest.
