Eluru: The CITU leaders demanded Labour Minister Pithani Satyanarayana to solve the workers’ problems in the State. The team headed by CITU State Committee General Secretary former MLC MA Gafoor went to Kommu Chikkala village, the native village of minister and met him on Thursday.

Senior CPM Leaders R Satyanarayana Raju, State CITU Vice President K Swaroopa Rani, Treasurer AV Nageswara Rao, district leaders Chintakayala Babu Rao, DNVD Prasad submitted a memorandum to the Minister.The CITU team requested the minister to amend the minimum wages in the state. They said the workers are incurring losses as there was no wage enhancement in various schedules over the last one decade. VDA rate earlier decided as Rs.10.50.

As per Supreme Court verdict, the government has to pay equal wage to equal work of contract employees and workers. They also stated that the Labour Acts were not properly implemented and requested implementation of those acts strictly.
They also demanded to fill up the vacant posts in the Labour Department. The CITU team suggested the Government implement the wages as per the orders of Telangana Government which enhanced the wages to Anganwadi (Rs.10,500), Ayah (Rs.6,000), VRAs Rs.10,000, Velugu VDAs Rs.5,000.
