Visakhapatnam: Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma, who conducted the monthly crime review meeting here on Saturday, asked the officials to mainly focus on those who indulge in drunken driving.It may be recalled that even the courts have imposed three days punishment to those who were caught in drunken driving cases in urban limits asking the police to make them stand at all important junctions holding placards with safety precautions in the hot sun.

The Superintendent of Police directed the officials to slap IPC Section 304 part-2, along with MV cases, against those responsible for fatal mishaps. He further asked to register cases with all possible Sections of the IPC against those responsible for fatal mishaps by coming in the wrong route or driving vehicles without valid licence. “Ensure that the culprits should get a minimum of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by using all possible Sections and to see that all the accused responsible for the fatal road mishaps must get imprisonment. All these steps would bring down the number of road mishaps”, he explained.

Deputy Director of Prosecutions K Prudhviraj and APPs attended the meeting and gave suggestions to help speed up investigations. Additional Superintendent of Police (administration) G Srikanth, DSPs Purushottam, M Mahendra, R Srinivasa Rao, L Mohan Rao, Y V Ramana, N S S Sekhar, Inspector S Kiran Kumar, SI G Premkumar and others were present.
