Tirupati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his resolve to develop Tirupati as a number one mega city in the country.

Addressing a public meeting at Rompicherla, near here on Saturday, Naidu said that a slew of developmental initiatives were already grounded for making the city as a hub of IT, electronics, hardware and manufacturing, while the fast growing Sri City SEZ, where more than 100 industries including international companies have already set up their units was adding momentum to the growth of Tirupati and providing jobs to thousands.

“The Visakha - Chennai coastal corridor project and Hero Moto Corp Limited (HMCL) coming up in Satyavedu area would help in accelerating industrialisation of the backward Chittoor district to generate jobs benefitting the unemployed youth. Till now the educated youth from Chittoor district are going to Chennai or Bengaluru as they have no other option to find a suitable job.

Soon there will be no need of our youth going to these cities for employment with Tirupati turning as a major growth centre in the state,” he asserted. In this connection he went on explaining how he developed Hitec city in Hyderabad, which ultimately saw thousands of youth getting employment as IT professionals.

Naidu who arrived here on Friday on a three-day official visit to his native Chittoor district, had a hectic schedule on the second day attending series of programmes in Rompicherla along with ministers including irrigation minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, industries minister N Amarnatha Reddy and IT and panchayat raj minister Nara Lokesh.
