Rampa Chodavaram: Immediate steps are proposed to be taken to overcome forest department objections for roads and connecting roads which are pending from long time in the agency area, AP SC/ST Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji said here on Thursday.

He asked the ITDA Project Officer A S Dinesh Kumar to conduct coordination meeting with the officials to solve forest department’s objections in agency villages in 10 days to find out reasons for getting permission from the forest department to lay roads. He addressed the meeting held at ITDA meeting hall in Rampa Chodavaram on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sivaji stressed the need for strengthening of task force system set up for the coordination of medical and health and women and child welfare departments in order to reduce deaths of mothers and infants. He further directed for the steps to control anaemia and nutritious food lapses by creating awareness among tribals.

He directed the officials to implement 17-point check list formulated by the ITDA Project Officer in preventing delay in sanctioning caste certificates for Valmiki people.

When he asked about the progress of Tadepalli- Vetukuru road, the Project officer told him that there is three kilometers long protected forest and two kilometers of hill slope cultivation lands existing along the road. The project officer further explained that tribals living in seven villages along the proposed road have been asked to make resolutions in grama sabhas in order to give hill slope cultivated lands for the road.

The forest department authorities also added that there are about one thousand trees on the way of the road and there is permission only to remove 75 trees as per Forest Rights Act. Sivaji made it clear that the onus is on everyone to provide basic amenities for tribals as per human rights.

Speaking further, Sivaji directed the divisional manger of GCC to formulate an act to give access to every tribal to sell brooms from hilly area. Stating that there are severe lapses in power supply to the areas like Gurthedu, Kakavada, Pullangi and Daragadda villages, he directed the AP Transco authorities to take steps to provide uninterrupted power to these villages.

He directed the officials to bring patent rights for bamboo chicken in plain areas. The ITDA Project Officer has urged the SC/ST Commission Chairman to make recommendations to the state government to sanction funds appoint expert doctors on temporary basis.
