Vijayawada: Congress demanded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to disclose facts on the contradictory statements of BJP president Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on funds given to Andhra Pradesh. • Raghuveera asks Naidu to explain how Rs 1.75 lakh cr said to be given by the Centre was spent
  • Points to Jaitley’s letter which puts the assistance to state at much-lesser level
  • Accuses the TDP govt of making state bankrupt financially with indiscriminate borrowings

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, AP Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy said Amit Shah, during his tour to Vijayawada, said the Centre had given Rs 1.75 lakh crore to AP, which was contrary to the statement of Arun Jaitley in Parliament that Rs 10,500 crore was given to the state.

“People may believe Amit Shah’s claims as Naidu did not condemn or disclose the facts on funds given to the state by the Modi government even as Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has given a befitting reply to the BJP leader,” he said. Naidu was afraid of Modi and Amit for some reasons, which is why he was silent, Raghuveera charged.

“According to Jaitley’s letter to the AP government, the Centre has given Rs 3,900 crore to adjust total revenue deficit of Rs 16,000 crore and it also said that Rs 138 crore only has to be given under the account” he said.Raghuveera also said that if the BJP leader’s assertion was true, Naidu must explain to people as to how the government had spent such huge amount of Rs 1.75 lakh crore.

“Surprisingly, the state’s financial condition has become worst during TDP’s three-year rule. The government has borrowed Rs 1.16 lakh crore in the last three years, which is shocking as the debt of AP in 56 years (1956-2014) was only one lakh crore,” he said.

“The TDP government is making Andhra Pradesh as insolvent state. The credit goes to Naidu,” he lamented. Continuing his tirade against the Chief Minister, Raghuveera said Chandrababu Naidu, who joined hands with various parties such as BJP, TRS, Left parties and some other political parties, announced at last in Mahanadu that he had no political ideology. “It is unfortunate that Naidu is speaking about self-respect,” he said.
