As part of Meekosam programme, he asks the fisheries officials to conduct field inspection following numerous complaints against illegal digging of fish ponds

The collector received complaints stating that some people who obtained permissions for freshwater fish ponds are illegally digging ponds for prawn cultivation and also digging up the borewells in the delta area which are badly affecting crops and fertile lands in the area. Manthena Venkata Ramakrishna Raju of Kommara village in Attili mandal complained to the collector that some people are utilising salt and seawater in the ponds for prawn cultivation.

As a result, the water in nearby freshwater wells is being contaminated with saline water. Another farmer Pujari Vara Prasad of Chinamillipadu in Akiveedu mandal complained that some people are trying to dig the fish ponds against the rules in the plus five contour lands of Kolleru area. He also expressed his concern for the fertile lands to get damaged as these ponds have no outlet.

The district collector K Bhaskar directed fisheries joint director to inspect the areas and stop digging of the ponds if they are against the rules.He imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on survey official who failed to take up the survey of 59 cents belonging to Tekuri Pushparajyam of Kamavarapukota.

he victim complained to the collector that she submitted a representation to the collector for the survey through ‘Mee Kosam’ and again represented on May 1. She complained that the survey department officials did not respond to the representation. Joint collectors P Koteswara Rao, MH Sheriff, district revenue officer K Hymavathi and others participated in the programme.
