Eluru: Vizag-bound Janmabhoomi Express was stopped over 20 minutes at Chebrole railway station in Nidadavole - Bezawada section under South Central Railway limits on Wednesday evening, as sparks emanated from wheels.

According to officials, Janmabhoomi Express from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam reached Chebrole around 3:30 pm. Some passengers observed sparks from the wheels and assumed that the sparks were from the bogies.

They panicked and pulled the chain, some passengers even jumped from train. On knowing of the incident the railway staff reached Chebrole station, checked the bogies and confirmed that there was no fire in the bogies.

They came to a conclusion that sparks emanated due to overheat conditions, besides friction between wheels and rails. Official sources said that the grease in the wheels dried up due to the heat conditions. Later, after 20 minutes, the Janmabhoomi Express left Chebrole station.
