Vijayawada: Joint Action Committee of employees, teachers, workers and pensioners, Amaravati, staged a massive dharna at the Dharna Chowk here on Tuesday protesting against the anti-employees and anti-workers policies of the State and Central governments. They demanded that the state government immediately regularise the contract employees and abolish the outsourcing system in the government departments.

The angry employees protested against the implementation of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and denounced that the CPS is unacceptable to the employees. Addressing the protesters, P Ashok Babu, chairman of the JAC of employees, teachers, workers and pensioners, Amaravati, said for the first time the state government employees staged a dharna after the bifurcation.

He said the employees are strongly opposing the Contributory Pension Scheme and outsourcing system. He said regular employees, contract employees and outsourcing employees are doing the same work but getting different salaries. P Ashok Babu said the main demand of the employees is equal pay for equal work.

He said regular employees and contract employees should extend support to the outsourcing employees because the latter feel insecure about their job. The JAC chairman said the employees staged a dharna at all mandal headquarters, district headquarters on June 6 as part of the state-wide protest of the JAC.

He recalled the Telugu Desam Party before the elections had promised for the regularisation of contract employees, but failed to fulfil the prepoll promise after coming to power.Meeting in New Delhi on June 10 P Ashok Babu said employees and workers from across the state are meeting in New Delhi on June 10 to discuss the future course of action demanding the government scrap the CPS. He said all the employees and workers should get pension as per the rule after completing their service.

He said thousands of employees and workers working in all the states are opposing the contract system and implementation of CPS and would chalk out an action plan to fight for the rights of the employees. JAC of teachers, employees, workers leaders A Vidya Sagar and other leaders spoke on the occasion.
