Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught the excise and prohibition department CI Lakshmi Damodar red-handed, while accepting bribe from a wine shop owner, here on Wednesday. According to ACB DSP, Jayaram Raj, the tainted officer, who was working at Yemmignoor and was said to have demanded huge amount of bribe from a wine shop owner Devendra, to spare him from registering case against his shop.

Kurnool: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught the excise and prohibition department CI Lakshmi Damodar red-handed, while accepting bribe from a wine shop owner, here on Wednesday. According to ACB DSP, Jayaram Raj, the tainted officer, who was working at Yemmignoor and was said to have demanded huge amount of bribe from a wine shop owner Devendra, to spare him from registering case against his shop.

The wine shop owner was said to have settled to pay an amount of Rs 50,000. Later, he approached the ACB. “We laid a trap and sent the wine shop owner with the agreed amount. As per the plan we caught the tainted officer, Lakshmi Damodar red handed while accepting the bribe amount from the wine shop owner. A case has been registered against the officer and would be recommending for further action against the tainted officer,” said Jayaram Raj.
