Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is mulling to appoint a former sportsperson as chairman of SAAP and Hanumanta Rao has applied for chairman post and begun trials.

Dronacharya awardee A Ramana Rao, KDOA former secretary KP Rao and JC Diwakar Reddy’s son JC Pawan Reddy are also in the race

The former national-level kho kho and kabaddi player, Rao has been playing crucial role in TDP and has been made SAAP director for two year term from 2014-16.Hanumanta Rao played for Andhra kabaddi and kho kho teams. Later, he entered into politics and worked as TDP village president for four years and Chandralapadu mandal party secretary for two times.

A loyalist of Minister for water resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, he was appointed as party coordination committee secretary of Krishna district.Rao took active role in media and is working as media coordinator for TDP. He accompanied Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during Mee Kosam Padayatra.

Meanwhile, several TDP leaders were also in SAAP chairman race. Some senior officers are encouraging former international volleyball player and Dronacharya award winner A Ramana Rao for the post.SAAP former chairman PR Mohan also seeks the post for one more term but Chief Minister is reluctant. Krishna District Olympic Association (KDOA) former secretary KP Rao and JC Diwakar Reddy’s son JC Pawan Reddy are also aspirants for SAAP chairman post”, sources added.
