Vijayawada: Finally, the dream of denizens of the city for the construction of Benz Circle flyover will become a reality. Bhoomi pooja for the construction of the Rs 200 crore project will be performed on Monday at the Benz Circle.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, who has been relentlessly pursuing for the construction of the mega project, will be the chief guest. Traffic problem in the city will be solved to a larger extent with the construction of the Benz circle flyover.
The Benz Circle flyover, the six lane project will be constructed from Screw Bridge Centre to Dr Ramesh Hospital Junction. So far, more than 700 trees were cut off for the execution of the project on the national highway during the last two months.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is constructing the flyover bridge as part of the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam national highway project. Marking works have already been completed and everything is ready for the beginning of works.
The VMC, NHAI and other departments are making alternative arrangements to ease the traffic problem as traffic may be diverted for the construction of the flyover. Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohana Rao, Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, MLC Buddha Venkanna, Mayor Koneru Sreedhar, Chairman of the APPHC Nagul Meera, NHAI officials and others will attend the bhoomi puja on Monday.
