Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham on Wednesday said that a special app would be launched soon keeping information regarding trauma centre, blood bank and ambulance in the reach of the victims of road accidents.
Accompanied by Traffic DCP TK Rana, the Collector convened a private and government hospitals’ coordination meeting on trauma care here.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the app should have information about nearby blood banks’ ambulances to help the accident victims. This would help in communicating to blood bank in the vicinity with the help of the app. Speedy treatment to victims would be possible with this arrangement. It would also decrease the number of deaths in accidents, he opined.

He informed that out of total 16 blood banks in the district, three were government-owned, two run by Red Cross Society and the rest were owned by private organisations. Under city limits 10 ambulances (108) and 11 police road safety vehicles were available. No police report was needed as per the Apex Court order to admit accident victims in hospitals, he added.

Rana, in his message, said that about 400 persons were dying in road accidents under the jurisdiction of Vijayawada police commissionerate. Most of the accidents occur on national highways. The number of accidents was decreased by 20 per cent by using police safety vehicles. An action plan was being prepared to reduce deaths in accidents in joint coordination with district administration, medical and health department, police and private hospitals, he added.Doctors of different private hospitals, DM&HO TVLN Sastry, Vijayawada RDO Harish and others were present.
