Vijayawada: Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) will tie up with Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad for development of coaching standards in the state. With the cooperation of Gopichand Academy, SAAP will organise physical literacy programmes in all 13 districts to create awareness among the people on sports.

In this connection, Youth Services and Sports Special Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam convened a meeting with SAAP Vice-Chairman and Managing Director (VC&MD) N Bangara Raju, Dronacharya award winners A Ramana Rao (volleyball), I Venkateswara Rao (SAI boxing coach), Gopichand Badminton Academy coaches at SAAP office on the premises of Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in the city on Thursday.

They discussed various issues regarding sports development and coaching facilities in the state. Special Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam enquired about coaching standards and planning for further development. SAAP VC & MD Bangara Raju explained present coaching facilities and standards.

Gopichand Badminton Academy coaches gave suggestions on coaching. According to sources, the meeting decided to create awareness programmes among the students with physical literacy programme. SAAP gave its nod to sanction necessary funds for the development of coaching standards for getting medals in national and international games, sources added.

Later, SAAP VC&MD Bangara Raju conducted a meeting with sports equipment manufacturing unit managements on development of sports and providing coaching facilities to the players.Gopichand Academy coaches Amitmalik, Naliza VD Chyff, Pankaj Markandey, SAAP assistant director SV Ramana and others participated.
