BJP MLA to expose another land scam

The BJP leader in a chit chat with media here on Friday stated that Visakhapatnam witnessed several land scams since 2009. “Several political parties, police and registration department officers are involved in the scams,” he alleged.
He said he was aware of the present land scam and alerted the government six months ago at the time of Assembly sessions, even asking for an inquiry or holding a House committee meeting. “Had the state government responded six months ago, the issue would not have arisen,” he felt.
He said though Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the land scam, it should have a retired judge in it.
He alleged that farmers were cheated of 1,400 acre under land pooling by influential persons. “Land grabbers created fake documents in the name of original land owners and lands were given to Visakha Urban Development Authority (Vuda),” he felt.
The BJP leader asked why the government had confined itself to SIT on Vizag land scam involving “thousands of crores of rupees” while it was seeking CBI probe into the scams of opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
He said people waited for SIT on Thursday to lodge their complaints, but team did not show up. Vishnukumar Raju demanded that the state government amend revenue Acts and rectify revenue records to prevent recurrence of land scams.
