Vijayawada: Alleging the TDP government had placed the state in number one position in corruption and failed in fulfilling its poll promises, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) released a ‘charge sheet’ on its three-year rule. APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, accompanied by other senior leaders, released the document here on Friday.
Highlights:
- Party releases ‘charge-sheet’ on three-year record of the govt
- Accuses ruling party leaders, legislators and ministers of indulging in land scams, sand loot on a large-scale
Addressing a press conference on the occasion, Raghuveera Reddy said the state government had failed on all fronts and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu put the state in number one position in illegal sand mining, land scams, exploitation of abundant natural resources, grabbing lands from the poor and farmers, corruption, deception, betrayal and other things.
Highlighting the corruption in illegal sand mining, the PCC chief said around Rs 18,672 crore worth sand in official sand reaches and Rs 29,000 crore worth sand in unthorised reaches was looted by TDP leaders during the last three years. “TDP MLAs and ministers, with the support of Chief Minister’s son and minister N Lokesh, have also looted sand. The TDP leaders plundered sand even in Yerpedu of Chief Minister’s own constituency which was not detected by the software of CM Core Dashboard,” he alleged.
The Congress leader said the estimates of irrigation projects should not be increased as per rules of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) but the state government hiked the estimates of various projects from Rs 34,057 crore in 2014 to Rs 74,154 crore for the benefit of contractors and TDP leaders.
“Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) exposed the irregularities and corruption in execution of Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme on which the government was silent,” he said.Referring to the land scams in Visakhapatnam, Raghuveera Reddy said TDP leaders, including party MLAs and ministers, grabbed thousands of acres in the district.
Asking why the Chief Minister had not sought CBI inquiry into the land scam, he alleged that the same situation had prevailed across the state. “The Chief Minister is promoting economic offenders as state and Central ministers, MLAs and MLCs,” he alleged.
Ridiculing Naidu’s statements that AP would be made number one in the world, Raghuveera said a survey by National Council for Applied Economic Research proved that AP had reached top place in corruption in last three years. He alleged that acquisition of 33,000 acres in the name of building new capital was the biggest scam in the history of independent India.
He also said the election manifesto was removed from the TDP website and the government did not pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh to even one family of the deceased farmers. Congress Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao, AICC vice-president Sake Sailajanath, former Union ministers Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi and Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy were among those who were present.
