Long wait for physically challenged people

Chittoor: Though District Collector PS Pradyumna has given clear- cut instructions not to obstruct the entry of physically disabled, old persons, mothers with children to enter his cabin, it has become a regular practice of the security personnel to ignore these instructions.

On Monday, while a number of petitioners thronged the Collectorate to submit their grievance in the ‘ Mee Koosam’ programme held here, Ramanamma, resident of Madanapalle who is a physically disabled woman took heavy pains to meet the district collector and convey her grievance of non- sanction of disabled pension. The security personnel did not allow her directly to enter to meet the district collector.

Speaking to The Hans India, Ramanamma said that she was very poor living with her aged husband “ I have submitted several representations to the District Collector for sanction of disabled pension during the last two years. No step has been taken in the regard. It is really inhuman on the part of the security persons to restrict my entry” she lamented.

Reacting to the claim of the disabled woman, The Hans India reporter brought the matter to the notice of the district collector on the spot who sanctioned the disabled pension to her after hearing her bitter experiences in reaching the Collectors office.
